A baseball icon, Nomura had a 26-season playing career mostly spent with the Nankai Hawks (now the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks) & was a 19-time All-Star, & won 2 Japan titles. He was awarded the Pacific League MVP Award five times, became the first NPB batter to win the Triple Crown in 1965, & still holds the record for second-most home runs (657), RBIs (1,988), hits (2.901), & games played (3,017) in NPB history. Nomura also had a successful managerial career winning 3 more titles & 1,565 games.
